@buzzer32 EMDR didn't work for me either. What works for some, doesn't for others and
I agree with you, I feel like tricking yourself into feeling safe when your environment isn't actually safe can be counterproductive.
I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with 1800RESPECT, that's quite disheartening to hear about the most publicised domestic violence helpline letting you down like that. I hope you're finding some support and validation within the forums.
Have you ever tried contacting Mensline before? They might be a little bit more appropriate as they cater for men. https://mensline.org.au/family-violence/experiencing-a-violent-or-abusive-relationship/

Mensline were useless too. Told me they only help men who use violence and have no idea where male victims can go

Hey @buzzer32 , I'm sorry to hear mensline weren't great either. In terms of support, what were you hoping to get/achieve out of getting support? Is it just someone to listen to you, or is it to actually get up and do something for you?
Sorry, I'm not 100% sure what you are looking for.

Support with referrals for safety planning, and needs arising from FV.
Many of therapist i seen over years(not just one for EMdR) been useless too, with many of view just need therapy thats all. For example one therapist refused writing a support letter for Intervention order application i had, instead suggesting be bettter do more therapy and not worry !
