Re: Everything Birds

Update on my 2 Peachfaced Lovebirds @Former-Member @Shaz51

So far they have shown no sign of aggression (common with Lovebirds) - towards my 2 Cockatiels (Weeros) & 1 Budgie, in same cage.

Indeed, Budgie said "This is my personal space, stay out" with a little peck.

Good sign, so far so good - maybe it will work out okay (fine).

Re: Everything Birds

Hi @Former-Member @Former-Member @Adge @Shaz51 and all

Had a lot of luck with birds lately at my bush block and around...sighted some little green honeyeaters, pardalotes, blue wrens and some water birds (plus the usual chuffs, ravens, cockys and galahs). Always cheer me up!

This came up on my FB which I thought you might like - cool as

"At sunset in winter in Spain, thousands of starlings gather in enormous flocks, named murmurations for the fluttering thunder of their wings. The birds move in unison, each mimicking its six or seven of their nearest neighbors as they whirl across the sky."

Photographer Xavi Bou condenses several seconds of movement into a single frame to capture their flight—and fight:

Re: Everything Birds

Pardalotes & Blue Wrens @Bezak482 That's lovely.

I've never actually got to see a Pardalote - I have pictures of them (most birds) in my Bird Books.

Honeyeaters & Wattle Birds regularly visit my garden - only because of the many Grevilleas & Hibiscus (& one Banksia) that I planted, about 15 years ago.

They love those Grevillea & Hibiscus flowers.

Most of the Bird Song here, comes from my aviaries - the Canaries, Java Finches, Goldfinches & others Sing their hearts out (lovely to hear).

Splendid Fairy-wren Malurus splendens

This is our Splendid Fairy Wren - from Western Australia.

We don't have the Superb Fairy Wren here - that's on the East coast.

This is the Red-Winged Fairy Wren

It's only in the South-Western corner of Western Australia - like the Splendid Fairy Wren

Re: Everything Birds

Re: Everything Birds

Too many sad Bird losses (gone) - in just the past few weeks @Former-Member @Shaz51

Anyone Who Loves Birds.....

- 3 Goldfinches

- 1 Bourke Parrot (attacked by the other Bourke parrots) - never had that happen before.

- 2 Canaries.

- 2 Java finches.

Winter is not the good healthy season for little birds.

As you all know l am very meticulous with my bird care - & have had had much success with breeding Bengalese finches, Zebra Finches, Javas Finches, Budgies, Barbary Doves, & some Canaries.

- These things happen, usually lose some  (especially in Winter).

- Yet it's hard to bear, miserable & upsetting  (even though I cannot prevent it).

- They are my family, they are all the company I have.

- There is no human company here with me, certainly not on any regular basis.

- They keep me connected with nature.

People who have good company or living companions, who do not live alone  (for 10 years) - do not seem to understand at all.

It's actually much harder living on your own - not easier  (than living with a partner).

I was married - I do know the difference.

Re: Everything Birds

I bought a pair of these little Beauties (on Wednesday) @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Bezak482  - Orange-Breasted Waxbill finches (African).

The smallest Seed-eating Bird in the World (They're Tiny).

I used to have some, a few years ago....
