A friend that idk how to help

Firstly would love to thank everyone that help people on this app as to, helping me before. Online is a scary place just now you can overcome anything.

  • Well I've met this older lady on this chatting site and we've become great online friends, she's really open about her pass were she's been r@pe and abused by her ex partner. I've been talking to i her and cheering her up if she feels bad, since she gets flashbacks and other trauma back randomly. She does therapy.
  • But what I'm looking for is how I could help her even more/ better as I would like to see her get better. As I'm ok with words, but definitely not amazing at it. Feedback or help would be appreciated.
  • Love all you people on here hope you have a great life and a amazing day.

hi @Imkai! that's so lovely of you to reach out and want to help support your friend. i get the feeling that you're already doing an amazing job at cheering her on 💖

i think being patient, validating her feelings and giving her a safe space to share (which i think you're already doing) is super important. if she's open to getting support, then perhaps gently encouraging her to talk to a professional and reminding her that she deserves to be heard. you can also encourage her to check out 1800RESPECTsounds like she's lucky to have you in her corner.

Re: A friend that idk how to help

Yeah I've been understanding, as much as I can be and help her. It's just sad to see what other people can do to others. Like recently I've helped her able to say "No". I might have pushed a bit to far, as she said she was crying but said she needed a push.

I always keep reminding her she's doing a lot alright, working, taking care of her kids, and other stuff.  Guess the only answer is persistence and time. Thanks for all the feedback and other outlooks on this sad situation.

Yeah she's already seeking therapy. I've told her that's already a big step.
