Getting old with mental illness

Hi, I’m 64. I’ve had lots of mental illnesses since a child. I’m not coping with life as I’ve just been diagnosed with autism. I also have bipolar 2 Complex PTSD OCD personality disorder and other physical illnesses. I’ve been depressed and in bed for over a week

welcome to the forums @Micky61!

i'm so sorry to hear that you haven't been coping well lately, and i imagine having the autism diagnosis added has been a lot to process too. sounds like things have been quite overwhelming and exhausting, and perhaps bed's been your safe place lately? is there someone, perhaps a psychologist or even a friend, that you would feel comfy reaching out to?

Hi @Micky61 I made this thread a little while ago that may be of assistance or at least to know some of the people on here with similar issues perhaps

Hi @Micky61

Things certainly sound difficult right now for you. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through all of this.

It’s great you’ve joined this forum and are able to express how you feel, and reach out.

I understand it takes so much effort in organising doctor visits and logistics around that. There are some great free mental health phone lines too, Lifeline and BeyondBlue. Even if it’s a quick chat.

There are resources out there and free mental health lines for times of crisis too.

I can imagine the recent diagnosis on top of everything would feel very overwhelming.
