Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

@Smc thinking of you and praying here also.

I agree with @Former-Member and dont think you are

catastrophising. I recall having similar emotions every time darling came home... often far too early. Trust and pray that there can be some positive progress in the near future.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

Thinking of you today @Smc,  hoping adequate follow up in place for daughter.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

Thanks @Former-Member. She's back home with her brother, seems in a good enough state of mind. She'll get a follow up visit tomorrow. Beyond that it's in "her court" to phone MHS if needed. It sounds like the psychiatrist is trying to make sure that good backup is available, but there's still the blunt reality that MH funding falls short of the needs in the community.

Lots more to talk out and work out with them still. There's another couple of appointments scheduled in the new year, one for our daughter, and one for the two of us. We may actually be getting somewhere towards working out what's going on, and therefore what kind of approach might make some real progress for her. Hoping so.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

Thinking of you also in coming days especially @Smc

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

Hi @Smc checking in.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

Thanks @Former-Member. generally OK here, but got woken upn by a middle of the night call from Older Daughter, having trouble with pain from fibromyalgia and wondering if I had any idesa on how to deal with it. Wasn't much I could suggest. except pointing out that sometimes she'll just have to accept that she's having a bad night.

When we were giving her a lift home afte church this morning, I explained that it really wasn't necessary to wake everyone in the house over something that we couldn't do anything about, and which wasn't an emergency. I think she hadn't thought through the impact it had on us. Will hope next time she might think carefully about whether it really is right to call.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

'Morning @Smc

Trust you got to bed at a reasonable hour last night.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

Hi @Former-Member, not really. I've just woken up from a morning "Nanna Nap" trying to make up for it.:P
Two sons were enjoying themselves here and reluctant to call it a night, but both needed to be driven home... by the time I'd persuaded them that I really was exhausted, it was already after 10. I cleared the bedroom/re-cluttered the dining space while Hubby drove them home, so it was after 11 before we were in bed. Felt like 4 in the morning.

Am in two minds about that. I hate nagging, so I try to be "politely insistent" instead, and that's not always a strong enough way of getting the point across. At the same time, I'm happy that we've got two adult sons who still feel at home here. (The oldest one is going for his drivers licence soon, so next year they may be more self-transporting.)

Older daughter had gone home earlier due to fibromyalgia pain. Hubby worked out that he drove over 200kms all up yesterday.

I enjoyed the day... next year though, I hope everything from lunch on runs earlier.

And am hoping that the "clutter" being a little more ordered after yesterday might mean I'm in a better position for sorting through it. A bit less junk around would be a lovely bonus Christmas pressie. 🙂

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

he drove over 200kms all up yesterday.-- wow hubby needs a rest too @Smc

I love the kids who are adults now , spending time here -- it is strange I love them when they are here , love them to live closer and visit us all the time , then between them and their pets and partners the house is like wow

but when they go -- I miss them

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?

@Shaz51, Hubby's better at "sleeping in" than me, so he stayed in bed a bit later this morning. I tend to wake up and can't get back to sleep again, which is boring, so I get up. I don't like being in bed past 9:00 because then I feel out of whack all day.

But we're all taking it easy today. 🙂
