Topic Tuesday 3: Reconnecting with ourselves *CLOSED*

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our third Topic Tuesday 🙂

Tonight a topic has been chosen thay is something you all have such insight and wisdom about - Reconnecting with ourslves.

It's easy to put ourselves second when we care for someone else. We can let go of who we are and what we want in life. It's important to find ways to reconnect.

What are the 3 top tips you would give to others about reconnecting?

Ready... go 🙂

Re: **Tonight!** Topic Tuesday 2: Reconnecting with ourselves

My top 3 tips would be

1. Create goals - career, personal, travel -whatever your drawn towards. Write them down so they don't get lost.

2. Reflect on goals and create a couple of small steps towards them (eg: travel might be putting away a small amount of $$ a week). Tick off small steps & give yourself a high five

3. Don't be tough on yourself if you find you have been neglecting these goals - just refocus and take on one small step towards one of your goals

For me writing down things is important - it helps me make it feel real & I take it more seriously... rather than a fleeting thought "oh wouldn't it be cool to do *insert goal here*" and forget about it.

Having it written down helps me reconnect with them.

Great tips Coffeegirl!

Re: **Tonight!** Topic Tuesday 2: Reconnecting with ourselves

I've found a body connection has grounded me, taking me away from the cerebral, I'm a life student of yoga.

Having a coffee with friends at various places gives me something to look forward to. I spread the coffees around between friends, so I'm not wearing anyone too thin, on my babble, hee hee

I've found studies has given me a focus, although at times it has added to the burden/stress, it has also provided a distraction, something that is about me, and provided feedback and accomplishment.

Re: **Tonight!** Topic Tuesday 2: Reconnecting with ourselves

For me the things I do are;

- Catch up with mates - sometimes for advice, sometimes just to be social

- Swim laps in a pool (thinking time)

- Laying in bed &  thinking (no one - including myself, can distract me that way!)

Sometimes it's not a matter of what to do, as such... but it's how to recognise when I need to reconnect.

Good point Eagle

Does anyone experience 'warning signs' that indicate you need to make yourself a priority?

Re: **Tonight!** Topic Tuesday 2: Reconnecting with ourselves

It usually consists of a sleepless night!

Re: **Tonight!** Topic Tuesday 2: Reconnecting with ourselves

Hey NikNik

One warning signs for me that I need to connect with myself is when I notice that I am spending too much time by myself........for me this means I am struggling to cope and I need to reach out to friends and socialise a bit more, even if it is just a phone call. This helps ground me, it's a kind of rejuvenation.

Re: **Tonight!** Topic Tuesday 2: Reconnecting with ourselves

1. Find time - even if it's only 5 minutes.  The more I make sure I make that time, the easier it is to do the rest.

2. Set achievable goals; don't set yourself up the fail.

3. Spoil yourself!
