You can pat Barbary Doves, if they're a bit tame.
They eat out of your hand, or out of a bowl in your hand.
They're very cheap, just $15 each - I do "Birds on a tight Budget".
My 2 are at least 10 years old, they may not last much longer.
So today, I went out to special Big Bird Shop (because they're hard to get) - & brought home 2 new Barbary Doves.
For the first time in over 10 years....
Adge

Hi @Adge I really loved listening to your dove links. Gentle sounds. Even the zebra finch. I miss my Bourke Birds. Can't believe those doves are only 10$ and yours are 10 years old. And glad to hear you went shopping today, got some more beautiful doves. You must be the best birdkeeper in the world.
My mum's hospital palliative care had a Memorial Service for families of list loved ones. Its was just the most touching experience when we all went out the courtyard for "Releasing Of the Dove" part of the ceremony. It was just beautiful, and so symbolic.. they were pure white homing pigeons the well dressed owner used for many community ceremonies, a business. They were so tame. She had seven and gave one to volunteers in the group to hold - and we released them all at the same time. I cried (bye bye mum), mum loved the birds. Hey, maybe you can do something like this Adge. How are you adjusting to your news and huge change in circumstances? One day at a time I guess. So glad you have your birds. Such a blessing 💜🙏🐦🐥🕊️
