Hi All,

new menatl health act in WA 2015 end of November. Some of the changes affect mainly involuntary patients , consumers . Also notifications of milestones in your treatment. IE Release dates who is notified who is not .

YOU AS THE CONSUMER PATIENT have the right to nominate a SINGLE PERSON beyond your normal family and partners who is to be notified of milestones . This also inclused transfers beteween faciltities and Communtity treatment orders.

It would be a goo Idea to jiump on the Chief Psyciatrists website just to famlirise yourself with the changes and how they may affect you and your carers  and families and partners.

In WA it should be part of the intake process. best to do it when your well . I know some folks who carry a laminated sheet in their purse , saying what condition they have medications and emergency contacts as well. You can nominate it at your local Mental health profeesional . councelor, social worker ect. It is WA only that I am aware of other states may already have this.
