Adult diagnosis of ADHD

Hi. This is my first post. I live with depression and an ED. A few months ago I was diagnosed with ADHD (in my 50s). Wondering if other people who live with it would be open to sharing their experiences

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

How did your life change after the diagnosis?,

what steps have you put in place to live better with ADHD?

There are a few areas where I’m struggling at the moment:
1. Getting enough sleep. Often get carried away with what I am working on and before I know it, it’s 3 am!
2. Not just putting a million things on a to do list - following up for a day or two but not following up every day
3. Transitioning from one activity to another
4. Stopping that negative self destructive blaming voice in my head.
5. Ignoring the alarms on my phone!!!!

Thankyou

Hello and welcome @GlussDecaf

Looking at your list , you are not alone

My husband tries to do one activity before he goes onto another activity. No good if he gets interrupted

Hi and welcome @GlussDecaf

I have a family member recently diagnosed with ADHD, so I am on the learning curve, and they are feeling relieved by their new insight.

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@GlussDecaf some times you get the trifecta of ADHD, anxiety and dyslexia.

My family has 3 generations of ADHD.

The worst symptoms are ADHD meltdowns and ADHD paralysis.

Women go undiagnosed because we present differently.
