Looking after ourselves

Re: Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

@Former-Member

Lovely your Mr made it through the scans,, now the waiting game for the results. Yes, weighing up benefit vs risk is a tough one,  I think that clear communication from the prescribing doctor is essential and any potential drug interactions explained.

Mixed emotions at present, have been considering if a move nearer family might be helpful and while we were away we checked out some places.  Mr Darcy is keen and today we had an agent out to look at our place with a view to listing it in the near future.

Re: Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Oh wow, @Former-Member so there could be some major changes in the wind in the not too distant future. Hopefully everything works out.

Trouble with my hubby is that there are so many different ailments a team of specialists are treating independently. He is currently under the care of a Neurologist (parkinsons disease and migraine associated vertigo) an Oncologist (metastatic Melanoma) a Psychiatrist (PTSD, Parkinsons and terminal cancer related Depression) a Nephrologist (former kidney cancer and now chronic kidney disease) a Dermatologist (ongoing monitoring of skin cancer as Parkinsons patients are very prone to melanoma) an Opthlamologist (macular tear, cataracts and other eye problems related to both cancer treatment and parkinsons disease). So there is a lot of interactions between the many and varied medications he is on. In addition to the above, you have the more common issues of High blood pressure, high cholesterol, gout and GORD which his GP monitors.

Little wonder it seems like its all one big experiment at times.

Re: Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Yikes @Former-Member there is a heck.of a lot of interaction potential there. You can get pharmacy reviews as part of chronic illness management (arranged through GP).

Re: Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Yes, a timely reminder @Former-Member . I should organise to do that. It was done years ago, but nit since his more recent diagnoses of melanoma in the lungs or parkinsons. I do regularly to to the pharmacist however. Given the neurologist only comes up here two days each month, I have been going to ask hubbys GP for a referral to a local Physician who has interest in Parkinsons. Physicians are essentially a specialust GP and can bring together the big picture, rather than each thing in isolation. I will ask at hubbys next GP apt.

Thanks @Former-Member

I am actually feeling a little more composed this afternoon after pushing to get out and do some yard work.  We are having mums wake here so need to get the place trimmed and looking nice for mum.
